The Ready Roost is the project and passion of Emma and Kate. We’re two homemakers who have realized that it is our obligation to have everything in place should a natural disaster or man-made crisis affect our families. Because we live in very different situations our requirements, methods, and plans will vary. Emma lives in a rural area and Kate is in a city. Kate has kids and Emma’s kids are all grown up. We both have pets. Our financial situations are different; Kate’s fiancé is a working guy and Emma’s husband is retired. Together, we cover a pretty wide range of circumstances.
You may have seen the acronym “TEOTWAWKI.” This stands for “The End Of The World As We Know It.” It’s a pretty ominous sounding thing but it doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the world for everyone. It may not even be the end of the world for your next door neighbor. It’s anything that causes a dramatic change in your circumstances. It could be the loss of a job or the death of a spouse. The TEOTWAWKI can be different for each family and it may last only a matter of weeks or it could be a permanent change in your world.
We all know about the myriad of natural disasters which affect people. We both live in areas that have blizzards and ice storms on a fairly regular basis. While not in Tornado Alley, we both, on average, a couple of tornadoes a season. Others deal with hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, and mudslides. Each of these natural disasters can be devastating to families but, with proper planning and preparing, they can be far less traumatic. The same is true for the non-natural disasters that people face.
It is our mission to both learn and teach ways that we can all save money, become more self-reliant, be prepared for whatever life throws at us (as much as humanly possible), and to have fun while doing it
We’ve both been “prepping” for a while and our backgrounds give us advantages that some of you may not have. But, with planning and perseverance, you can ensure your family is as prepared as possible for whatever comes your way.
Why We Created The Ready Roost:
We like to cook and bake and homemade is always better
Making your own stuff is fun
Being prepared in the event of a disaster (natural or man-made) is both smart and comforting.
